| Pretty good book I just had to read on the Song of Solomon, but it's pretty awkward to read some of these things from the mouth of a seminary professor.
Nonetheless it includes a modern translation of the song as well as a new paraphrase... I found it very useful for a book we often hear no teaching on at all. |

| I would also recommend finding a copy of Calvin Seerveld's The Greatest Song, which is another translation and interpretation of Song of Songs.

The kicker with Seerveld is that he uses the tradition that sees three main characters: the woman, the lover and Solomon, plus the chorus et al. The dynamic between the virtuous love of the young lovers and the lechery and lust of an older Solomon drives a very compelling drama. |
